I’ve never had a website before and don’t know the first thing about making one.
So, like my robot projects, I thought it would be a fun and challenging endeavor and it definitely was.
A special thanks to the web developer who spent countless hours working on it and suggesting design
and layout ideas I never would have envisioned.
I come from an artistic family; my dad and sister went to art school. I took a different path
and graduated with an electrical engineering degree which was more aligned with my mom’s background.
I was also fascinated with science fiction from an early age. I was glued to the original 1965
Lost in Space series. I especially liked the robot and the many other robots of movies and
television that followed over the years. When you put together my love to build and fix things
with my need for an artistic outlet, this obsession kind of makes sense.
My process seems to repeat for all of the robots. I usually start with a cool vintage device
that inspires me and then I see where it goes. I try different parts, then often get discouraged
and put it aside. I eventually find something that works with the overall theme and it all
comes together. Finding a way to assemble parts that weren’t meant to fit cohesively has
become my favorite part of the design. All of my sculptures are bolted or riveted and I sometimes
add lighting effects to take them to another level. Doing something different every time
keeps the process interesting.
So, enough about me, what do you think of me? I mean my robots! Please email me with
comments or questions.
